The face of Huawei Watch Buds opens to reveal hidden headphones, a neat solution for people who constantly leave their wireless headphones at home.

Huawei Watch 4 Pro

If you’ve already seen any Huawei Watch Buds leaks on the web, then you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a fan-made concept or an early development product destined to never see the light of day. But, in an announcement on Weibo, Huawei not only confirmed that the Huawei Watch Buds are a real product, but provided a teaser video for us to have a better look (via The Register).

As the name suggests, the Huawei Watch Buds are a pair of headphones hidden in a smartwatch that looks like the Huawei Watch 3. Details are a bit scarce, so there’s no word on which kind of performance or battery life you might expect from or products, but the watch itself appears to be running HarmonyOS.

The headphones don’t look like any previous Huawei products, sporting a black and silver design. While the concept feels more than a little gimmicky, it could be a neat solution for runners and other sports people who don’t want to wear a separate headphone case during a workout. (If they don’t mind the extra bulk in their wrists.)

A December 2nd release date also appeared on the teaser video, but Huawei has since postponed the launch of its Winter 2022 consumer kit for unspecified reasons. Some outlets have speculated that this is to respect the death of former CCP General Secretary Jiang Zemin on November 30, which has also affected other Chinese product announcements in the past week. Hopefully, we’ll have more details on pricing and regional availability later this month.

Addressing the elephant in the room, it is unlikely that you will be able to buy this gadget in the United States anyway, regardless of its legitimacy. Huawei products have been effectively banned in the country since the company was placed on the Commerce Department’s list of Industrial and Security Entities in 2019. You have seven more smartwatch choices ? Although the wearable is part of the mainstream today, users do not have the widest range of choices for such a device. However, if your particular taste in smartwatches lies with Huawei, you will be able to enjoy what they have just launched. Today, Huawei launched the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro.

At first glance, the Watch GT 3 Pro combines the best of fitness and lifestyle. Coming in a titanium and ceramic version, the smartwatch is a wearable you can take to a 5K run or fancy dinner.

There are, of course, differences between the two variants. First of all, the titanium edition sports a large 1.43-inch AMOLED screen with 466 x 466 resolution. The surface itself is reinforced by sapphire glass, ensuring a gritty quality even in the toughest situations. In addition, it has a rotating crown for easy maneuverability. It also has a dedicated ECG button to easily capture and read your data.

If size isn’t your thing, the ceramic version offers the same durability and functionality, but in a slightly smaller form factor. It has a 1.32-inch AMOLED HD screen with a ceramic band and a gold/silver shell bezel.

Inside, the smartwatch has ECG analysis and TruSeen 5.0+ data monitoring. It has a five-system GNSS navigation system for accurate readings. In addition, if you are a diver, the watch can go up to 30 meters deep, supported by a new Free Diving Mode. If you want to get a workout, it supports more than 100 workout modes and various tracking capabilities such as heart rate, pace and distance.

Finally, the watch comes with HarmonyOS installed. The battery of the Titanium Edition will last for 14 days, while the Ceramic one will last for 7 days.

Accessories Xiaomi Buds 5 Review: Much bigger than AirPods 4? Open earbuds plus ANC minus the high price

Just Got Mine, And They’re Perfect! (wanted To Share My Experience From The Positive Side)

However, brands have developed and implemented the function available for wireless buds with an open ear design. That includes Apple’s latest AirPods 4 with ANC and even Samsung with its non-Pro Galaxy Buds3.

Xiaomi, being one of the biggest technology brands in the world, did not miss the opportunity and will show its latest and best open-ear ANC competitor – Xiaomi Buds 5.

But compared to the stealthy case of the Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo, this is, in hand, much more elegant with its “Space Capsule” aesthetic.

Opening the lid reveals the type of open ear buds in their true beauty. The trunk, like the lid, has a shiny touch that I always admire.

Using the Xiaomi Buds 5 instantly felt comfortable. The buds are remarkably light and hardly feel any pain even after several hours of continuous use.

Regardless, I really like the “semi in-ear” design as the headphones fit perfectly and stay firmly in my ears, whether I’m shaking, leaning, or even banging my head hard – especially during my K-Pop music sessions.

The design of the trunk is quite expected. Quoting my colleague in his review of the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro, the headset is the “optimal design” where you can put every piece of sound driver possible to make the sound quality fuller and the experience more immersive.

Props to Xiaomi though for that stereo speaker-like circular element that adds more uniqueness to the ever-growing number of headphones that look like clones of each other.

Whether you’re using a Xiaomi device, any other Android smartphone, or even Apple’s iPhone, the Xiaomi Earbuds app works for both platforms.

This is not to say that it does not work on other devices such as tablets (or iPads) and laptops (or MacBooks) because it is – only without the companion app.

In my case, the non-Xiaomi phone I was using automatically detected the new pair of buds and redirected me to their app page on Google Play.

Once installed, the Xiaomi Earbuds app shows the basics: the battery level, some toggles, and a bunch of settings.

Pixel Watch 3 Can Know What Your Body Needs

P.S: You need a Xiaomi account before you can actually update the firmware of your earphones. Other brands do not force you to do so.

Unlike other headphone manufacturers where they limit controls and certain gestures for both buds, the gesture options on Xiaomi Buds 5 are fully customizable.

Instead of relying on sensitive touch sensors placed outside the trunk, the Xiaomi Buds 5 has a touch force sensor on its inner side.

This type of sensor is more favorable because it prevents the headset from performing gesture functions whenever you touch it accidentally – or when you use the ear buds to play sleep sounds to allow you to get your beauty rest.

Also, sliding that sensor up and down increases or decreases the volume – something other expensive tops don’t even offer.

In addition, there are settings such as pausing playback every time you remove one of the headphones, taking calls automatically when the headphones are worn, and being able to connect to two devices simultaneously and switch seamlessly every time it is necessary.

If some of you have read my previous product reviews, I always say that I am not the biggest audiophile. However, I can determine and differentiate great audio quality for something that sounds straight out of a can.

On paper, the Xiaomi Buds 5 boasts an 11mm dual-magnet driver for that powerful bass – and they weren’t lying.

Huawei Watch Gt 3 Pro Unboxing And First Impressions

Apart from those crystal high (sharp) and medium, its bass is just deep. Metaphorically, not as deep as the Mariana Trench (at AirPods Pro 2) but also as deep as the Philippine Trench in third place.

Case in point: I often use the HONOR Earbuds 3 Pro (for its ANC) and HUAWEI FreeClip (open-ear design) just before the arrival of Xiaomi Buds 5. Surprisingly, after testing all three buds, the sub-US $75 audio product from Xiaomi gave the best oomph against the two despite being located in the premium price segment.

If its standard, classic sound EQ isn’t your cup of tea, you can head over to the app’s Audio Effects page and adjust the audio balance settings to suit your taste — whether it’s to enhance vocals or the treble, minimizing the bass, or even adhere to Harman. AudioEFX.

And as indicated earlier, its harman / kardon collaboration via software and intricate tunings contribute to the already great audio hardware – bringing unparalleled sound quality.

Similar features to Spatial Audio are possible through the Dimensional Audio settings. Below is immersive sound and tracks head movement for a full immersive experience.

Personally, I preferred my playback without these features enabled as it sounded like I’m in a cave, no matter how much I tweaked each audio effect.

Xiaomi Buds 5 supports Qualcomm aptX. For audio nerds, this enables lossless 16-bit/44.1kHz HD audio and high-fidelity audio with up.
