Flying This Weekend This 6 Usb Condom Will Protect Your Data From Suspicious Outlets – How can I maximize the life of the phone and minimize the total lifetime cost of the device while accounting for malicious cats?

My wife’s Moto X4 has been knocked off her nightstand/bed multiple times by our cat, and has gone through several cables where the metal connector on the USB-C side of the cable bends at about a 45 degree angle, the internal connections break, and the cable it no longer works. Are there any recommendations to prevent this from happening?

I saw a similar post regarding micro-usb connections, but since this isn’t something I can easily adjust the disconnect behavior (we tried, the cat isn’t a very quick learner)

You cut off the top of an empty plastic bottle (from lotion, shampoo, household cleaners, or whatever) in such a way that you can put your phone inside and have a tab on the top that fits between your wall outlet and the charger.

When charging your phone, first attach the phone hanger to the wall outlet with the charger. Then put the phone inside with the cable facing up! Most pictures show the phone standing inside the hanger upright, which bends the cable if it connects at the bottom.

In this picture you can see that the bottle should be longer than the phone. If it had been just a little longer, the phone would have fit inside without leaning on the charger and bending the cable at that end.

Get a wireless charging case that fits your phone (similar to the one pictured below). This will allow you to protect your phone while also charging it wirelessly, so if it gets bumped, the connector will remain intact.

How To Spot A Fake Data Blocker That Could Hack Your Computer In Seconds

Use a magnetic USB-C connector, like the one in the picture. However, the phone itself can still crack if it gets turned off repeatedly. Maybe the cable/connector is what’s been keeping your phone safe until now – just sayin’.

I had a similar problem only I broke it off.. once upon a time I tied a loop on the charger cable near the USB c end and I hung the loop on the wall charger itself, with the phone hanging from its charger connector and hanging in the air

Now that we’ve replaced the nightstand with a larger one that makes the outlet difficult to reach, I just plug the phone in and drop it to the floor on the side of the nightstand, leaving the cord running over the top of the table. When I pick up the phone, I pick it up by the wire, like pulling a fishing net

All in all, the simplest life hack I can recommend is to put your phone on the floor (it can’t fall any further!) somewhere it won’t get stepped on during a bleary-eyed midnight trip to the bathroom.

Interestingly if you have ever seen a product called “Sugru” – they specifically have this as one of the suggested uses for the product. I have also used it for this purpose and it works well.

Use it to form an armature sleeve around the plug end of the cable, forcing any bending of the cable to take place over a larger diameter and therefore less damaging.

Put your phone in a cup to turn up the volume; then, put the mug in the half-open drawer of the bedside table next to your wife for the night.

Benefit: You don’t even have to take out the disposal cup when your wife takes off her phone for the day.

Advantage: Your pet can’t pull, kick or push it off the top of the nightstand. It is stable unless there is a catastrophic natural disaster.
