Trellix emerges from the previously announced merger of McAfee Enterprise and FireEye in October 2021. “We are incredibly excited to have Trellix in the STG portfolio,” said William Chisholm, Managing Partner, STG. “Customers can expect Trellix’s living security platform to deliver bold innovation across the XDR market.”
Trellix’s Products And Solutions
The new name evokes the structure of a trellis, a strong and secure framework used to support structured growth of climbing plants and trees. Trellix will deliver on its brand promise to build resilient and confident organizations
“As today’s organizations push to achieve digital transformation, a strong security foundation is needed to ensure continued innovation, growth and resilience,” said Bryan Palma, CEO, Trellix. “Trellix’s XDR platform protects our customers as we bring security to life with automation, machine learning, extensible architecture and threat intelligence.”
Trellix’s XDR ecosystem is designed to accelerate the efficiency of security operations by providing customers with the ability to incorporate more than six hundred native and open security technologies. By providing security analysts with better insight, granting more control and delivering comprehensive threat context, analysts can save time and act decisively to remediate threats.
“The promise of XDR dramatically improves security effectiveness, and the vendors who can deliver on that promise will capture market share,” said Frank Dickson, program vice president, Cybersecurity Products, IDC. “However, integrating context and delivering outcomes requires resources and work. This is a monumental effort made possible with the right security partner. With a combined product portfolio spanning endpoints, networking, messaging, data protection and cloud services, Trellix has an impressive multi-technology portfolio to address the promise of XDR.”

STG is expected to launch the McAfee Enterprise Secure Service Edge (SSE) portfolio as a separate business later this quarter, including Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Secure Web Gateway (SWG) and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). McAfee Enterprise and FireEye have dropped their names and former branding to emerge as a single entity called Trellix, after the two companies merged in October 2021.
Parent company STG Group says that Trellix, which will operate as a global cyber security firm, promises to ‘align with the current pressing needs to address today’s threat landscape’ and to ‘define the future of cyber security’.
The company is named after the word ‘trellis’, a supporting structure commonly used to support trees and plants. The idea is that Trellix will provide a framework and ‘living security’ that learns and adapts to protect organizations against advanced security threats and threat actors.
In a blog, Adam Philpott, chief revenue officer of Trellix, says organizations express concerns, doubts, anxieties and concerns about security, but Trellix strives to change that.

“We are here to satisfy customers seeking solutions that bridge the gap between intelligence and action by empowering security to use knowledge, context and insight in the face of dynamic threat actors. And we recognize no two customers or industries are the same, ” writes Philpott.
“By understanding where our customers are and what is not currently being solved for them, we can help them get to where they want to be. This is a blueprint for growth not only for them, but for Trellix, as well as we re-introduce ourselves to the market and transition security from static to always-on and optimized for specific needs.
FireEye-McAfee Enterprise CEO Brian Palma continues his reign as Trellix CEO, noting that Trellix’s XDR capabilities will protect organizations as the company leverages automation, extensible architecture, machine learning and threat intelligence to support its security capabilities .
“Customers can expect Trellix’s living security platform to deliver bold innovation across the endpoint detection and response (XDR) market,” said STG Managing Partner Willian Chisholm.

This XDR offers customers the ability to incorporate more than 600 native and open security technologies for faster threat remediation, the company says.
IDC’s program vice president of cybersecurity products, Frank Dickson, says vendors that can deliver on XDR will be able to capture market share.

News that STG planned to combine the companies came last fall when officials shared their plan to create an organization with 5,000 employees, more than 40,000 customers and nearly $2 billion in revenue. Bryan Palma, former executive vice president for FireEye’s products business, has been appointed CEO.
Trellix’s approach focuses on what it calls “living security,” or the ability to create technology that learns and adapts to protect against advanced threats. The name is a reference to a garden trellis because of the way it supports plants as they grow, officials noted in a release about the news.
The XDR platform uses machine learning and automation to provide threat detection and response. Its technology is designed to make security operations more efficient with the ability to incorporate more than 600 native and open security technologies.
“Trellix’s XDR platform protects our customers as we bring security to life with automation, machine learning, extensible architecture and threat intelligence,” Palma said in a statement.
