However, what is perhaps the most eye-catching is the new dedicated iOS 16 Lock Screen feature. This is the most personalization support we’ve seen from Apple with an iPhone, with all the work it did with iOS 14 when it launched widgets and some neat Apple Watch faces.
If Your Lock Screen Icons Are Magnified On Your Iphone, Ipad, Or Ipod Touch
If you tap the “Customize” button on an old wallpaper, you’ll be prompted to “Add New” to continue.
Photos can look super sharp with the new Lock Screen and you can even set it to rotate your pictures with “Photo Shuffle” wallpaper.
You can add up to 4 small widgets, 2 small and 1 medium widget or 2 medium widgets in the bottom lock screen space.
The quickest way to add a widget is to tap on it, but you can drag and drop if you want more specific placement.
How To Easily Change Clock Font On Your Iphone
Tap a time to adjust the font and color. Swipe right to left to discover more color options and a full color palette for fully customized hues.
Tap the three-dot icon in the bottom right to enable perspective zoom and tap Done in the top right corner when done.
Back on the main Lock Screen customization page, you can also tap Focus at the bottom to link a particular one to that particular Lock Screen.
Once you put a widget on the Lock Screen, you’ll get live data presented every time you see it. However, like home screen widgets, they are not directly interactive, so when you tap on them, you will be taken to the appropriate app (Calendar, Weather, Reminders, etc.).

At any time you can tap Customize to edit the lock screen or tap the blue + icon to create a new one.
It’s not clear how many lock screens you can make, but so far I’ve made 21 😅.
Is it me or is perspective zoom completely gone and the screenshots are from an older beta? I don’t see that option when I tap the three dots… I just see depth effect.
Similar to the Apple Watch display, once you have multiple lock screens, you can easily switch between them by long pressing the lock screen and swiping to select a different one.

Ios 16 Will Make Your Iphone’s Lock Screen More Useful
In iOS 16, you can customize your Lock Screen with unique fonts, colors and, for the first time, widgets. To get started, all you need to do is unlock your iPhone with Face ID or Touch ID, then long press on Lock Screen to enter Lock Screen Gallery.
If you have an Apple Watch, the interface you see should be familiar because it’s very similar to how customizing watch faces works. Lock Screens are categorized here in Collections (Apple Lock Screens Stock), Photos and Colors. You can swipe left and right to select another existing lock screen, and long press one to set it.
Alternatively, you can tap Customize to personalize the currently selected Lock Screen, or tap the blue + button to create an entirely new one. Here we will focus on customizing the existing Lock Screen.
Tapping Customize displays an interactive view of your lock screen with several options you can use depending on the lock screen type. If you customize the “Color” lock screen, you can tap the colored circle on the left to change the color and hue, and you can swipe left and right to apply different styles to the image.

If you’re customizing the “Photo” lock screen, the options at the bottom let you choose another image (or a selection of aa / perspective deep affect.
Note that the filters available to you by swiping left and right are automatically created for the selected image, so you will see different options here depending on, for example, the depth photo or color wallpaper. (If it’s a photo, keep in mind that selecting a different filter can also apply a different typeface style to the time and date.) If you’re customizing the Lock Screen from Apple’s “Collections,” the options at the bottom of the screen are more Limited.
At the top, you’ll see a frame around the time and date, as well as a lot of space below the time. The middle frame indicates that you can tap to edit the time style, while the frames above and below can be tapped to add optional widgets.
Widgets you can add above the time include other time zones, set alarms, next calendar events, weather conditions, your activity ring, next reminder and preferred stocks. Widgets that can be placed under Time are more information-rich and include battery level, calendar, clock, fitness, home, news, reminders, stocks and weather.
