Human Or Bot New Turing Test Ai Game Challenges You To Take Your Best Guess

Human Or Bot New Turing Test Ai Game Challenges You To Take Your Best Guess – Can you tell if you’re chatting with a real person or a bot? Take your best guess.

Named after the famous computer scientist Alan Turing, the Turing test is a way to determine whether AI can convincingly act like a real person. The test basically asks someone to engage in an anonymous conversation and then determine whether their chat partner is real or artificial. Now, a new game is taking advantage of the recent buzz about AI to challenge you with its own version of the Turing test.

Human Or Bot New Turing Test Ai Game Challenges You To Take Your Best Guess

Created by Tel Aviv-based AI systems developer AI21 Labs, the online app known simply as Human or Not describes itself as a social Turing game. The premise is simple yet challenging. You participate in a chat with someone (or something). You can ask questions or offer any responses you want. But the chat lasts only two minutes. After the time, you have to think whether the entity on the other end is human or AI.

To do this concept for yourself, browse the Human or Not page. Click the Start Game button. You will then be asked to initiate the chat, or wait for your partner to initiate things. As you ask questions and make statements to drive the conversation, pay attention to how the entity on the other line speaks and acts.

When your time is up, the question will appear: Who did you talk to — Human or AI bot? Guess correctly, and you win the game naturally. Try this as many times as you want to see how many games in a row you can win.

Human or Not was designed by AI21 creative director Amos Meron, who told me how he cooked up the game.

“I’ve been talking a lot with friends and colleagues about AI over the past few months and realized that we have a lot of assumptions about how people will interact with AI bots in the near future, as well as what the visible. as human behavior online,” said Meron. “Here I thought of creating a social experiment that would allow everyone to challenge these assumptions themselves.”

To design Human or Hindi, Meron said AI21 used a combination of state-of-the-art large language models (LLM), including the company’s own Jurassic-2. LLMs rely on deep learning to help chatbots and other AI tools deliver more human-like text. Beyond turning these models around, AI21 developed a framework that would generate a different bot character in each game.

The excitement and curiosity about AI seems to be new, mostly triggered by the popularity of ChatGPT. But the use of artificial intelligence has been around for a long time. And a major player in that area was Alan Turing.

Famous for his efforts at Bletchley Park during World War II, Turing led a team of cryptanalysts whose mission was to break the code of encrypted German military and intelligence messages. With his interest and expertise in AI, Turing raised the question we are still trying to answer today: Can machines think?

To that end, Turing created a test he called the Imitation Game. In this scenario, a person and a computer are questioned by a third person who cannot see the other two. Based on the answers to the questions, the questioner ultimately has to determine which of the two is the human and which is the machine.

“Although it was conceived in the early fifties, the Turing test may be playing its most important role today,” Meron said. “It will help us understand where we stand, put our assumptions to the test, and be the catalyst for asking the right questions and starting a much-needed discussion.”

“On a fundamental level, we want people to have an interesting and thought-provoking game experience,” Meron said. “As a result, and especially after we release the results of the experiment, we hope that this will encourage a wider public conversation about how we should make smarter, fairer and safer use of AI technology .”

Everyone is familiar with Artificial Intelligence , commonly known as AI. People who are not familiar with it will understand it as a field of computer science that develops computer systems that require human intelligence to perform tasks. Although AI is trending these days, it has yet to completely conquer the world. However, it has a wide range of applications in various industries.

Human Among Us Ai Game: Reverse Turing Test

AI is used in healthcare, gaming, finance, cybersecurity, transportation and many other sectors. Not only this, but it is also used in image and voice recognition. Also, AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants have become good at responding to every type of input and providing the desired output for queries. Recently, AI was used to develop a game based on the classical Turing test to determine if a machine can act as a human and fool the human playing the game.

The Turing test, also known as the imitation game, is a test that tests a machine’s ability to display human-like intelligence and responses. This is a test created by Alan M. Turing, an English mathematician and computer scientist, in 1950. The test consists of three terminals where one is physically isolated from the other two.

One terminal is operated by a computer, while the other two are operated by humans. During the test, one of the people acts as the questioner, and the other person and the computer act as the responders. The questioner asks various questions related to a particular topic using a given format for a particular period. Answers are not judged by their accuracy but by how close they are to the human response. If the questioner cannot tell which responses come from the computer and which come from the human, then the machine passes the test and is said to have human intelligence.

AI21 Labs , an AI lab and product company, has created an online game known as Human or Not that is based on the concept of the Turing Test. The game was launched about a month ago. It allows you to chat with someone for two minutes. During the game, you can ask any question, advice or discuss any topic. You will get 20 seconds to write your responses. After two minutes of interaction, the game will ask you to guess whether you spoke to an AI bot or a human.

To make the game more challenging, AI21 Labs used a variety of Large Language Models (LLMs) (deep learning AI models that can mimic human intelligence), including GPT-4, Cohere, Claude, and its own Jurassic-2 model. These LLMs help AI tools and chatbots generate human-like responses. Moreover, the company has also created its own framework that will allow the bot character to behave differently in each game.

The game developers recorded millions of conversations to check how many people passed the challenge. They collected the data and found that 68 percent of the players saw a difference between a human and an AI bot, while the other 32 percent failed the challenge.

Overall, AI21 Labs’ analysis showed that 73 percent of players guessed correctly when chatting with someone. On the other hand, 60 percent of players got the right answer when chatting with the AI bot. The company also analyzed response data in different countries. Of the 17 countries, France had the highest percentage of correct predictions at 71 percent. India scored at least 63.5 percent.

Players tried several tricks to distinguish between the human and the bot. For example, they start using slang words and make grammatical mistakes while chatting. But these tricks don’t always work. In AI, game models are trained to use slang words and ungrammatical sentences to confuse players.

What Is The Turing Test Anyway? And Does It Still Matter?

Afterwards, the participants tried to talk about current events. However, the bots were able to respond because the models were connected to the internet and knew about these events. Next, the players started talking about their personal lives and illegal activities. While the models were built according to the ethical sub-routines, the bots could not answer. This trick worked and the participants were able to differentiate the bot from the human.

AI21 Labs will study the findings and data in more detail and collaborate with other prominent AI labs and researchers on this game project. The company aims to help policymakers, researchers and the public understand AI and see it as a productive friend in the online world.

“We started this experiment with some basic questions about people’s ability to distinguish between humans and machines, because
