I Bought Some Off Brand Geeky Stuff From Temu And Wasnt Mad About It – So, I ordered some fun stuff from the hyped shopping app Temu. Here’s how it went down.
Her: I’m emailing you “Is Temu legit? What Jada Jones needs to know about this popular shopping app”.
I Bought Some Off Brand Geeky Stuff From Temu And Wasnt Mad About It
My wife was very happy. Jada’s article gave me enough confidence to place an order with a company that is spamming ads, but I have no personal experience.

The Outtime license plate was all of $3.98 and having loved Back to the Future for so long, I thought it would be perfect over my laser printer at Fab Lab. I decided to buy the ECTO-1 plate from Ghostbusters.
Although these items come from China to the US, shipping is free if I’m willing to wait a little longer. But then I got caught. My order is $7.96 and Temu has a minimum order of $20. It was
But what? Fanboi license plates, if they didn’t suck, were a pretty good deal. I looked around for something else.
What I found was a Lego kit for the WALL·E robot from the Pixar movie of the same name. Except the kit I found wasn’t an official Lego kit, it now retails for $390 on Amazon and was $59.99 before it was “retired” from Lego’s product line. What I found on Temu was a $22.48 dupe from an unnamed company.
Is Temu A Scam? A Comprehensive Analysis
Still, I went ahead and ordered. I used a privacy card because I didn’t want to give out digits to a random company that constantly spammed my Facebook page.
I didn’t wait long. About 10 days after I placed the order, the package from Temu showed up. It’s a little worse for wear because it’s a soft blanket with no padding.
To be honest, I was worried that when I opened the envelope I would find bent plates and broken fake Lego pieces. I was very relieved to see them all in good condition.
Both are made of mild steel. Magnets stick to them, so I know they are ferrous. The letters are not raised or stamped, but appear to be silk-screened. Even so, for my decorative purposes, they are fine. Here’s what I have hanging up in the fab lab on my laser printer.

Then, there was the fake Lego robot. I didn’t have high hopes for this one, especially since it was removed from Temu before the product got here.
The kit came in a plastic bag, containing other plastic bags, full of parts. None of the parts were damaged, although there was no correlation between how the parts were bagged and the instructions.
Speaking of instructions, it’s been a while since I’ve built a Lego kit, but the full-color instruction book is as thorough and helpful as the old instruction books that Lego produced. Interestingly, Lego is phasing out the printed instructions, which I personally find a bit disappointing.
I’m not going to speculate on the level of piracy or lack of licensing associated with the knock-off I bought, but as you can see, both the bricks and the booklet look like typical Lego.
I Bought Tech Dupes On Temu. The Shoddy Gear Wasn’t Worth The $1,260 In Savings
This thing took longer to build than I remember. The bricks all hold together like Legos should. Build time had little to do with the clone factor and more to do with how long it took to find the right part for the next step.
Children are often considered impatient, but if they can put Lego (or Lego-like kits) together, they must have the patience of a saint. I don’t know how patient people are to sift through it. By the time I was done, I had thrown out my entire library of well-developed programmer obscenity and let it rip. But again, that’s not the dupe kit’s fault, but the hundreds of tiny little parts with even smaller studs in the media.
I have one obvious complaint. At the end of the project, I found that there were some missing parts. This was kind of crucial for the completion of the model. Since Temu discontinued the product immediately after I placed the order, there was no guarantee that I would get the missing parts. So I put on my engineer’s hat (not a choo-choo, but a builder) and redesigned a part of the robot to release the parts from the previous module and apply them to the final stages.
Let’s be clear. My experience with Temu is limited to just one order of these three items. I have not yet tried to return anything or get any money back.
New Obsession, So Many Good Finds On Temu 🌷🫧🤍🌸 Dc: Dke2486 For Up …
But, with that caveat in mind, I do have a few complaints. The products arrived in good condition despite the appalling packaging. The license plates were exactly what I wanted, and hey, for less than four bucks each, what’s there to complain about?
The kit had some missing parts, but it was well documented and the bricks were indistinguishable in quality from what I remember of the official Lego parts. I was a little concerned that the product was discontinued before it arrived, but I still got a cute yellow robot to put on my shelf.
I cannot advise you whether to order from Temu or not. But if I find what I want and it seems like a good enough value, I will tell you that I will try them again. My first experience definitely didn’t suck.

When You Order Bluey Stickers From Temu…
Last month, I found a listing for a handheld gaming console with built-in emulators. The listing said the product comes with 27,000 retro games. That piqued my interest and I thought it would make an interesting article (ie, “I bought 27,000 retro games on Temu for $110”).
Yes, I knew that ROM files for games might not be strictly legal, but I thought it would make for an interesting discussion as well.
So, I gave the order. About a week later, the little console arrived. It’s actually a lovely piece of kit. But the promised games didn’t actually come on the included microSD cards.
Unfortunately, Temu tends to remove lists of products it no longer stocks, and I hadn’t thought to capture a screen grab of the original order list. So I can’t show you how it was promoted.
Miniatures & Mini Things
One point to note: Yes, I know I can download ROMs from various sources. But I wasn’t interested in hunting down and downloading 27,000 games. I wanted to write about
